Called to Live a Holy Life

As Christians we are called to live a Holy (meaning sanctified: set apart from) life. The Holy Spirit (part of the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) can help give you the ability to overcome the sin in your life and tendencies to sin (iniquity). The change in your behavior towards a Holy life starts with an inner change which reflects outwards, not outwards to the inner. Following the ten commandments (in the book of Deuteronomy) as laws, we remember that “the letter can killeth” as Paul wrote in his epistles, “but the Spirit gives life”. We, as Christians, need the Holy Spirit in us to overcome sin. Actually the Holy Spirit keeps the world and us in check, for without Him, the world be be more sinful indeed.

As Christians, we need to follow the prompts of the Holy Spirit. In times of temptation the Bible states the God will provide a way out of the temptation. Remember that God is omnipotent (all powerful) and putting your Faith and trust in him to provide (in a number of departments, such an finances, food, work etc.) is a great way to live as a Christian; putting your Faith into action. We are called to live a Holy life, and we need the Holy Spirit to help us achieve that (actually to sin means to “miss the mark” in Greek), so live a Holy life that is well pleasing to God.
