It is amazing that before we were called out of the world, came to the Faith and come to know Jesus is Lord, a lot of us were tied up in worldly pursuits that didn’t amount to much in retrospect compared with the value of Jesus. It was easy to fall into the trap of idolatry, and taking pride and valuing our self-worth by our bank balances, cars, houses and other possessions. Idolatry is actually a sin, where you make your possessions idols and serve them rather than God, and they unfortunately take the place in our lives that God should possess. You can have great and goodly possessions but your priority has to be God and advancing the Kingdom to God, to serve Him, not your possessions.
In the Bible there was a young man with great and many possessions, and Jesus said, sell your possessions, give to the poor, and come and follow me. Unfortunately he was not willing to let go of his possessions when Jesus told him so. We must make Jesus our first port of call, and listen to His voice.
Jesus speaks to us through an inner voice, and stirring of your spirit, a voice from the Holy Spirit, through prophetic words given in Church and events that can only come from God.
We should align our life for Jesus. Giving our first and best to Him, and making Him the number one priority in our life. The Lord’s Day is the first day of the week where we attend Church and give Him the first part of our week. The Tithe should be the first tenth part of our income. Live for Jesus and make Jesus your number one priority and you will have His blessing on the rest.
