There are a number of quotes in the Bible that demonstrate the compassion Jesus has for the lost and also those that are found (God lets it rain on the just and unjust), and while Jesus is compassionate, He and Christians are not timid or utterly weak (where Christ’s power rests on you when you boast of your weaknesses, as written by Paul). Some quotes from scripture during wartime can be beneficial to understand what it means to be a Christian.
“He who loses his life for my sake will save it, and he who saves it will lose it” – Jesus Christ
“All cowards will be cast into the lake of fire” – Jesus Christ
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for his friends” – Jesus Christ
“Let the weak say I am strong” – Book of Joel
“The righteous are as bold as a lion” – Wisdom of Solomon
“He who has faith like mustard seed, can say to this mountain be moved, and it will be moved” – Jesus Christ
“He who lives by the sword, will die by the sword“- Jesus Christ
“Perfect love casts out fear” – John
In defending your home country, taking up arms is not considered murder under the ten commandments. The ten commandments can be used to classify what is sin. However, Jesus never raised a sword, and rebuked Peter when he cut off the servant’s ear. It is the author’s view if you don’t need to fight by violence, then don’t, but if you have to, to defend your country, then you can, but expect that you may die by the same sword you live by.
