The taking of Holy Communion is important aspect of the walk of a Christian. The bread and wine taken during a Communion service signifies and is symbolic for the precious body and blood that Jesus shed on the cross. The taking of Communion should be done worthily, where the Christian must examine their heart and sincerely be willing to hand over their sin and repent and follow Jesus. It is stated that if you are unworthy it can bring a curse. This is because this act that Jesus undertook during the first day of the Passover (the Festival of Unleavened Bread), was precious and should be held in reverence for what Jesus did to save mankind. God gave His only begotten son as a sacrifice, whom He loves deeply. Also Jesus was filled with sorrow in the garden of Gethsemane where He prayed and signified that He will do as God willed but it was no easy task nonetheless.
Jesus said taking Communion is to be done in remembrance of Him, and that His blood, symbolised by the fruit of the vine, is shed for many for the remission of sins. It is stated in in the Bible that sin causes inner spot and blemish that must be removed by the taking of Communion. Jesus wants to find His Church without spot or blemish, and sin causes spot and blemishes, and Communion washes it away. So take Communion worthily, as Jesus, the sacrifice, the Lamb of God, paid a great price to make it possible.
