As Christians, it is important to understand Grace, as it is the changing agent from which we are Saved and Salvation has come. The law condemns but Grace saves. The Bible (Gospels) states that Jesus came to bring Truth and Grace to the world. The power of the the Law (these are the Ten Commandments) is sin, as breaking the Ten Commandments, which still stand today is sin, and living under law makes us like the Pharisees who were self-righteous in their own eyes. Paul the Apostle, before he had an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ on the road to Damascus, was perfect in regards to the law, but he did not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, from whom he/we are saved by Grace. Paul underwent a dynamic change and counted his self-righteousness and training in the law as dung (or in today’s language, crap).
We are saved by Grace, which Jesus brought by His work and sacrifice on earth. We don’t go out and purposely sin, but if we repent of our sin, and turn our back to sin, and have a relationship with Jesus Christ (to rely and trust in Him for salvation), our sins are forgiven, as the Son of man has power to forgive sins, as stated in the Gospel of Matthew states. Grace is the changing agent, and old past sins and patterns fall away and we are changed. Our own righteousness is as filthy rags before God but it is Christ’s righteousness in us that we are justified. We have to be in Jesus, as Paul states, there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus.
